Biography

Liam Maendl-Lawrance, born in 2004, came into contact with darts for the first time on January 1, 2018: he saw the thrilling World Cup final between Phil Taylor and Rob Cross. At the end of 2019, Liam started playing himself and discovered his deep love for darts.

As a result, he quickly became one of the most promising German youth players and was already one of the DDV's best young players in 2021. In 2022 he became German youth champion. At the Dutch Open he reached the quarterfinals in the U18 category and at the International Youth Challenge in Vienna he left the board as the winner in both the individual and the team events. His good performance secured him a place in the youth national team.

At the beginning of 2023 he played the PDC Q-School, but had to admit defeat before reaching the final stage. The WDF Slovak Open was more successful, with Liam winning the final 5-4 against Andy Beatens. A double victory followed in June: Liam won both the WDF Swiss and Helvetia Open. His ranking points total was now enough to qualify him for the WDF World Championships in Lakeside. Although his luggage didn't arrive in London and he had to play with other people's darts, Liam won the first round against Mike Gillet 2-1 in sets. In the second round Liam lost to Martyn Turner 1-3 in sets.

At the beginning of 2023, Liam played the PDC Q-School again, but was unfortunately eliminated early on. In January 2024 Liam played the Q-School yet again, where he made it to the final stage, unfortunately it was once again not enough.

In 2023 Liam played the qualifiers for the European Tour, where he qualified for four European Tour events. He made his debut at the International Darts Open in Riesa. In the first round Liam won 6-4 against Richie Burnett. In the second round he met Danny Noppert. Here he missed a match dart on double 16 in the decider and was eliminated 5-6. At the German Darts Grand Prix in his hometown of Munich, Liam won 6-5 against Robert Owen in the first round with a 129 high finish. In the second round the opponent was once again Danny Noppert and again Liam had to admit defeat 5-6 in the decider. At the European Darts Grand Prix in Sindelfingen he played in the first round against five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld. Despite a furious start and a convincing performance, he ultimately lost 3-6. At the European Tour tournament in Trier, Liam met Marko Kantele, to whom he lost 2-6 with an average of 71 points. At the Swedish Masters, Liam fought his way to the final, where he met Berry van Peer, who won 5-6 in an exciting match.

In 2024, Liam played various WDF tournaments and reached the quarter-finals at the Antwerp Open Men and reached the final at the Swedish Masters Men, which he narrowly lost to Tonni Sörensen in the decider. This year too Liam was able to qualify for the WDF World Championships in Lakeside.

Liam signed a sponsorship contract with dart manufacturer One80 in February 2023, which he terminated in June 2024. In November 2024 Liam will join the Bull’s NL team.
